DataHub+

Enterprise DataHub, in your own tenancy

A certified, supported distribution of the open-source DataHub catalog — run on-prem, in your cloud or fully air-gapped — with three plugins that close the gap to the commercial edition. Your metadata never leaves your control.

DataHub+

Open-source core. Enterprise everything else.

DataHub Core is a capable catalog. DataHub+ adds what enterprises actually pay for: a build you can trust, people you can call, and the capabilities Core leaves out — all inside your own tenancy.

A version you can standardise on

We pin, test and publish a certified release on a fixed cadence, and support the current and previous certified release — so you are not chasing upstream. Signed images, SBOMs, CVE scanning, and Helm or operator install with tested upgrade, backup and restore tooling.

Enterprise support licence

Published response times, a private support channel and a named technical account manager. We carry the Kafka, Elasticsearch and GMS operations burden so your team doesn’t.

Your tenancy, your rules

On-prem, private cloud or fully air-gapped. EU data residency by design: schemas, query history and business context stay under your control — nothing is sent to a vendor control plane.

AI documentation, your LLM

Schema-, sample- and lineage-aware descriptions generated by the model you already trust — your Azure OpenAI, Bedrock or Vertex tenant, or a vLLM/Ollama endpoint you host — written back as proposals for review.

Monitoring & assertions

Freshness, volume, null and uniqueness checks, schema drift and custom SQL — scheduled against your warehouse and rendered on the native asset pages.

Alerting & propagation

Event-driven notifications to Slack, Teams, email and PagerDuty, plus lineage-based propagation of docs, tags and ownership downstream.

The plugins

Three things Core doesn’t do — built as plugins, not a fork

Each plugin is a separate service talking to DataHub through its public APIs, the Actions framework and the Metadata Change Log. Core stays unmodified, so you keep the upstream release train.

01

AI Documentation

From 30,000 undocumented columns to a populated catalog — using the LLM you already trust, with nothing sent to a vendor control plane.

  • Reads schema, sample values, lineage neighbours and query context through the DataHub API
  • Bring your own LLM: any OpenAI-compatible endpoint — Azure OpenAI, AWS Bedrock, Google Vertex, or vLLM/Ollama you host. Model choice, contract and cost stay yours
  • Writes descriptions into native DataHub fields, so they render in stock DataHub
  • Review queue: descriptions land as proposals, and governance signs off before publication
  • Batch backfill plus event-triggered runs for newly ingested assets

Built as: An external service on the GraphQL/OpenAPI surface and the Actions framework.

02

Monitoring & Assertions

The observability layer Core is missing — deterministic checks first, shown where your users already look.

  • Freshness, row-count and volume, null and uniqueness on selected columns, schema drift
  • Custom SQL assertions with thresholds, per asset or per domain
  • Scheduler connects to Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks, PostgreSQL and more
  • Results written to the open assertion and data-contract entities — visible on native asset pages
  • Per-asset health history, so incidents have context

Built as: An external scheduler and evaluation engine; the entities already exist in the open metadata model.

03

Alerting, Subscriptions & Propagation

Turns the catalog from a reference into a daily tool: owners find out when what they own changes.

  • Subscribe to schema changes, assertion failures, incidents, ownership and glossary changes
  • Route to Slack, Microsoft Teams, email or PagerDuty — per team, per asset
  • Lineage-based propagation: push documentation, tags and ownership downstream automatically
  • Digest and escalation rules, so alerts stay actionable rather than noisy

Built as: Consumers of the Metadata Change Log and the Actions framework.

Core vs DataHub+

What the subscription adds

DataHub Core is Apache 2.0 and free — and stays that way. DataHub+ is what sits around it.

How it works

From first call to a running catalog

A fixed onboarding path, then a subscription — not an open-ended project.

  1. 01

    Assess & size

We review your sources, users and environment — on-prem, cloud or air-gapped — agree the deployment topology and pick the support tier.

  2. 02

    Install in your tenancy

Helm charts or the operator on your Kubernetes, or the offline bundle for air-gapped sites. Signed images, SBOMs, and SSO wired to your identity provider.

  3. 03

Connect & switch on the plugins

Ingestion from your sources, then AI documentation, monitors and alerting configured against your warehouse and your LLM endpoint.

  4. 04

    Run it with us

Upgrades on the LTS cadence, security backports, monitoring of the DataHub stack itself, and a named TAM. Quarterly reviews keep the roadmap honest.

Pricing

Per production instance, per year

Three tiers, one subscription each. Every tier includes the certified releases and the support licence; the plugins and the response targets scale with the tier.

FAQ

Questions enterprises ask us

Is DataHub+ a fork of DataHub?

No. DataHub+ runs an unmodified DataHub Core. The plugins are separate services that talk to DataHub through its public APIs, the Actions framework and the Metadata Change Log, so you stay on the upstream release train and benefit from every upstream improvement.

Where does it run?

In your tenancy: your on-prem Kubernetes, your private cloud account (AWS, Azure, GCP, OCI) or a fully air-gapped site. Duces never hosts your metadata.

Which LLM does the AI documentation use?

Yours. Bring your own LLM: point the plugin at any OpenAI-compatible endpoint — your Azure OpenAI, AWS Bedrock or Google Vertex tenant, or a vLLM/Ollama model you host. Prompts and metadata go only to the provider you chose, under your contract; Duces never sees them.

How do you handle upgrades and security patches?

We publish a certified release on a fixed cadence rather than tracking every upstream release, so you run a version we have tested and can support. Security issues are assessed against the version you are actually running and patched on the timeline in your support terms, and we tell you plainly when an upgrade is the only safe fix.

What does the licence cover?

An annual subscription per production instance: the certified distribution, the plugins in your tier, updates and security backports, and the support SLA. DataHub Core itself remains Apache 2.0 and free.

Can we start from an existing DataHub installation?

Yes. We migrate your existing metadata, ingestion recipes and policies onto the certified distribution and switch on the plugins, typically without downtime for your users.

How do you relate to the DataHub project?

DataHub is an open-source project licensed under Apache 2.0. Duces is an independent company: DataHub+ is not affiliated with, sponsored or endorsed by the DataHub project or its commercial sponsor.
